A diprotodon welcomes to the park

is hard to go past if you ever want to spend a weekend in the Hunter Valley. Not only is it within an easy drive of popular Dubbo Western Plains Zoo (about forty minutes away), but it also has a series of caves to explore onsite, which means you’ve already got a whole weekend of activities covered without even trying.

The accommodation at the park begins with the usual cheaper options of the powered and unpowered sites. It also includes different types of units and cabins, which all have at least a microwave and a fridge, but often come with their own kitchen. This last group sleeps from 4 to 7 people, so families (even big ones) are catered for well.

In addition to the Wellington Caves, which include two caves and a mine, onsite attractions include an aviary and golf. There’s also the neighbouring Wellington Osawano Japanese Gardens (description here ) and a bottle house. The town of Wellington is about ten minutes away.
