So what do you get in this 4 star hotel near the beach?.

The view

While the hotel is set back a little way from the beach you still have lovely ocean and sunrise views.



The dining

We did look at the dining options at the hotel however they are way too over priced for what you get. However the hotel is conveniently located so you wouldn't even think of dining at the hotel.



For breakfast we just crossed the road to a lovely little takeaway that does a great Aussie style breakfast. Dinner time we were out anyway enjoying the many great dining options around the hotel or at nearby Broadbeach.

The Location

About half a block from the action means that the hotel location is convenient for the beach, bars, restaurants and public transport.

The Facilities

We mostly used the two swimming pools. One is at the front and the other at the back of the hotel. So at least always has sun and the other shade, depending on your preference. Also it means one will be sheltered from the wind.

The gym looked okay, though we didn't try it. My friend was thinking of taking advantage of the spa but as there were many cheaper options in the area she went to one of those instead.

The Rooms

Standard 4 star rooms, clean, well appointed. Pity they don't have balconies like many of the others hotels in the area.



The Service

Good competent service. No complaints in that regard

Anything Special

When we arrived my impression of the lobby was a cheap poorly designed hotel. However as we explored we could see the logic of the design. Instead of trying to impress with opulence they have instead created little private spaces which makes the experience more intimate. This is reflected throughout the hotel. Whether you are swimming in the pool or dining, you don't feel like you are in the middle of big hotel.

The Verdict

I liked this hotel and was very happy staying there. I think you might be able to find similar rooms and location for a cheaper price though. If I were to go back I would be checking the price of nearby hotels against this one, though unless I get great deal I would stay at the Watermark again.
