Mahkota Hotel Meleka Malacca

The Mahkota Hotel, is a great value for money four star resort hotel just outside the Malacca city centre. Perfect if you want to just relax in the resort or head out to the city for site seeing and fun.



Malacca, also written as Meleka, is a lovely relaxed town a few hours south of Kuala Lumpa. Mahkota Hotel lies just aside the tourist zone to the south the city centre and provides a fantastic four star option to staying in the city.

Mahkota is a resort hotel with everything you could possible want, from sumptuous buffet breakfast, two spectacular swimming pools, tennis courts, gym and kids play room. There are also self service washing machines, something you rarely see in a four star resort.

The resort is huge with numerous options for accommodation. However you never feel that it is crowded despite the large number of people who were staying there when were there. The spread out design makes you feel that you always have privacy.

We stayed in a studio room which are basically a longer standard hotel room with a lounge setup at the balcony end of the room. Perfectly clean and appointed rooms typical of four star hotels around the world.



The breakfast is typical of the breakfasts in four star hotels in Malaysia, a combination of Western, Indian, Chinese and Malaysian foods. While it was an impressive spread it is perhaps perhaps a little less diverse than the breakfasts at the hotels we stayed at in Kuala Lumpa.



The location is conveniently next to the seaside (I don't really want to say beach), there are some bars with entertainment at night and walking to the city centre takes you through an emerging tourist zone with lovely outdoor style Malaysian eateries. The city centre tends to be dominated by backpacker cafes and Chinese restaurants and here you can get real Malay food.
