Before you board the train you can go to the gun show

If you're visiting the Grand Canyon, stay at Williams in the and watch a gun fight cowboy show before you embark the train for the canyon.

The 's lobby has real character and you could be forgiven for thinking you were in an Agatha Christie novel or, at the very least, in England.

The lobbys period decor is a main feature

Drive yourself (from Vegas or Phoenix) to Williams, the town where the Santa Fe Railroad built a railway line over 100 years ago to take passengers into the canyon. An estimated 1,000 visitors a day choose to arrive at the canyon this way.

The train will always be a romantic way to travel

You can travel in a carriage with a glass-domed ceiling, however you cannot see the canyon from the train. It is a lovely way to approach the canyon as you pass through a variety of landscapes as the elevation changes: from high desert to prairie, to Ponderosa pine forests as you near the canyon. It is a popular way for people to arrive, often having spent the night before at the Railway Hotel in Williams.
