Big 4 Port Stephens

If you are looking for a budget conscious, family friendly place to stay in the Port Stephens area, The Big 4 At Karuah Jetty , is definitely your answer. Port Stephens is located two and a half hours drive north of Sydney on the New South Wales, North Coast. The Big 4 - Karuah Jetty occupies 28 acres of bushland, situated right on the Karuah River, which flows directly into idyllic Port Stephens.



As soon as we pulled into the reception, the kids jumped out of the car and ran around exploring their new home for the night. They were in "kid heaven" with a jumping pillow (a giant puffy trampoline thing) to let off all that pent up energy accumulated sitting in our car.



They also loved the equipment in the children's playground and the entertainment room complete with several video games. It did not take long before we had unpacked our bags and changed into swimming gear and were lolling around the spacious pool.



Back on our cabin verandah, we caught tempting glimpses of the Karuah River, so we wandered along the nearby jetty to watch the sun set with the local fishermen. The kids discovered an interesting mangrove boardwalk, and then it was time to settle in to our cosy, well equipped cabin for the night.



The Big 4 also have plenty of powered and unpowered campsites available for tents, campervans and caravans. The Family Villa (pictured below) offers the perfect self contained accommodation option for parents and children (who will also love chasing all the rabbits hopping around the grounds).



The (very) small town of Karuah is located three kilometers off the Pacific Highway, making this an excellent place to spend the night if travelling along Australia's east coast. It is also easy to reach many amazing beaches, Myall Lakes National Park, and the Hunter Region from Karuah.
