A romantic weekend in Hotel Carmel

Two weeks ago, my wife and I decided to spend a romantic weekend in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

This small beach town is located in the Monterey peninsula, and it’s a very interesting place indeed. The weather is milder than in Southern California, and even a bit foggy in the morning. It actually reminds me of Ireland, because the beaches have the same wild beauty. But the houses look very Austrian with their quirky rooftops and studs, and they have no addresses. People are very friendly in Carmel, it's as if everybody knows each other there. A really nice feeling!

Lots of artists and actors live or have lived here, and we were very surprised to learn that Clint Eastwood was Carmel’s mayor in the past. Dirty Harry really has good taste!

The Taste of Carmel food festival and Pumpkin Roll competition are two of the main events in this cute town. The International film festival is also amazing.

We decided to stay in the Hotel Carmel , which is right in the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea. This boutique hotel also sits alongside the ocean, and you can easily walk to all the shops and restaurants this beautiful town has to offer.

We really had a great time in Hotel Carmel, because it’s so cosy and the interior design is great. My wife also loved the fact that it looks like a small dollhouse with its cottage-style architecture and seaside feel. Our bed was very comfortable (the most important thing, in my opinion!) and the staff very friendly and helpful. They would always take the time to explain where to go and what to do in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

If you’re looking for fine Carmel dining , Hotel Carmel has everything you want. You don’t even need to go downtown to have a bite! You can have a hearty breakfast in the hotel in the morning, and then enjoy a nice burger at Brophy’s Tavern, a really great bar with delicious food that’s part of the hotel.

Our weekend in Carmel-by-the-Sea was absolutely great, and we recommend staying in Hotel Carmel because it’s so convenient and the service is second to none. Next time, we might also try La Playa Carmel, a beautiful hotel and one of the most famous event venues in carmel CA .
