The apartments at Somerset Liang Court are just perfect accomodation for holidays in Singapore, especially if you travelling as a family or are in a small party . These self catering apartments are ideally located and have everything you need for you to enjoy your stay.

From the outside

When planning our recent travels to Singapore, we were initially looking for a hotel room, so that we could also enjoy all of the facilities on offer. However, the more we researched the more we realised that for a family of four, we'd likely all be squashed up in one room, and if we wanted something bigger, we'd have to pay a small fortune for it. So instead of a hotel, I started looking into serviced apartments and happily stumbled upon Somerset Liang Court apartments. For the same price as a lot of the hotel rooms that we looked at, we'd be able to get a 2 bedroomed apartment complete with lounge and kitchen and 2 bathrooms. So much space which would allow for parents and kids to spread out easily.

- A studio apartment

The Liang Court apartments are based just off Clarke Quay, so within walking distance to a whole district of entertainment, bars and restaurants and walking distance to the local MRT station. It is situated within a shopping complex which is handy for buying groceries which you can store within your kitchenette in the apartments. There's a Starbucks on the ground floor, a McDonalds adjacent to that in addition to other eateries and takeaway places. Apartment dwellers even get a discount on the local pizza restaurant, Sharkeys.

- One of the two bedroom residences

Don't be put off by a slightly dated facade as the rooms are modern, clean and spacious. The apartment complex is made up of studios and 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, suiting the needs of various different travelling groups. There's even a penthouse suite if your budget is limitless. We opted for a two bedroom apartment, and I was suprised at just how big it was. Having the two bedrooms, it meant that we had our own bedroom, as did our eldest son, and our youngest son (a baby) was able to sleep in the cot provided in our room or in the lounge. This much space meant that when the kids went to bed, we didn't have to. The apartments are cleaned every day and we couldn't fault the attentiveness of all of the staff.

Prices include a continental breakfast, which is definitely a cut above your average cereal and toast (often offered as continental). There are cereals, toasts, preserves, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and also some hot items which differ every day but could include eggs, hashbrowns, waffles, beans, pancakes and french toast. You can also help yourself to fresh juices, tea and some seriously delicious coffee. I swear the latte is addictive. It was handy having the breakfast included as meant you could head down to eat rather than having to venture out or cook your own.

The apartment complex also features a large swimming pool, which when you do your research you'll note a lot of other serviced apartment complexes don't actually offer. The pool area features a number of shaded loungers and sunbeds in addition to waiter service for refreshments (you simply have to press a button). We also made great use of the kids toy room, and also the gym. Both great handy additions to the offerings of the complex.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a great choice for families visiting Singapore wanting a bit more room to spread out in.

Top Tip
- Due to the amount of building work in the area, it is recommended to ask for a room with double glazed windows in. You'll sleep soundly if you do.
- If you are leaving early in the morning to go to the airport it is best to book a taxi. There is a taxi rank outside but first thing in the morning (e.g. before 7am) it tends to be full of party goers who have finished their night off, and it can be difficult to get picked up.
